HISTORY

The Noord Nederlandsche P&I Club was founded on 18 January 1937 with the aim of insuring Dutch shipowners and skippers against liability risks. Up until then, there had only been English P&I clubs to turn to; the founders wanted to offer a Dutch alternative.

Over the more than 80 years that NNPC has been operating, we have always been a reliable partner. For example, by critically evaluating whether our premiums are still competitive, or by adapting to new developments. This is how NNPC has developed from an insurer for shipowners and captains into an insurer for small to large shipping companies in the field of coastal shipping. In the past ten years we have seen a threefold increase in the fleet and we have expanded into inland shipping.
